John Driskell Hopkins - Zac Brown Band founding member/multi-instrumentalist
John Driskell Hopkins is a founding member, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter for the Grammy Award Winning group Zac Brown Band. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 3, and raised in Gainesville, GA. As Hopkins says about his musical background, "I have been singing since I could talk. Like a lot of us who grew up in the South, my earliest musical experiences were in the church choir. Choir was a great place to gain a real understanding of vocal harmony and musical structure." When he's not playing with Zac Brown Band, Hopkins fronts his own band Brighter Shade, while also collaborating with bluegrass powerhouse Balsam Range.
